Timeproof is a proof-of-existence service. You write a message, pay a small Nano fee, and your message is permanently stored on IPFS - the InterPlanetary File System. The Nano transaction acts as an immutable timestamp on the blockchain.

No one can alter it. No one can delete it. Not even us.

## How it works

1. Write your message - up to 1,000 characters. Plain text, permanently recorded. A short proof-of-work challenge runs in your browser to prevent spam - no account or email needed.
2. Pay with Nano - scan the QR code or copy the address. Instant, feeless payment. You have 5 minutes to complete it.
3. Pinned to IPFS - your message is stored on the decentralized web. You get an IPFS content ID (CID).
4. Verify anytime - anyone can check the IPFS CID and the Nano transaction independently. No trust required.

## Why Nano?

Nano is a digital currency with zero fees and instant settlement. No mining, no gas costs, no waiting for block confirmations. You pay exactly what you see - nothing more.

## Why IPFS?

IPFS is a peer-to-peer storage network. Content is addressed by its cryptographic hash, not by location. This means your message can't be tampered with - if a single character changes, the hash changes. The CID is the proof.

Each message costs more as the platform fills up. The price is locked in at the moment you submit.

## Pin your own copy

Timeproof pins every published message to our IPFS node, but a single node is a single point of failure. If you run your own IPFS node, you can pin all Timeproof messages - making the data more resilient and ensuring it survives even if this server goes offline.

## Content responsibility

Timeproof is a neutral, permissionless platform. We do not review, moderate, filter, or censor any message content. Once a message is published, it cannot be altered or removed - by anyone, including us.

Each user is solely responsible for what they publish.

## Privacy

No tracking cookies. No third-party scripts. No client-side analytics. Anonymised server-side analytics only - IP is never stored.
